biography

Laurence BORREL-PRAT advises and represents French and foreign companies before the French and European regulatory authorities and courts on matters of antitrust litigation (cartels, abuse of a dominating position) and claims for relief for losses suffered through wrongful competition before the ordinary courts, and also deals with merger control issues.

She is also actively involved in matters of contract negotiation and litigation.

Career history

Building on her ten-year experience in the Competition Law department of cabinet GIDE, Laurence acted as Executive Secretary for France for PUIG, the Spanish group of luxury companies (Nina Ricci, Paco Rabanne, Carolina Herrera, Jean Paul Gaultier, Byredo, €3,6bn in turnover) for two years. During that period she honed her experience in distribution law. In 2008, Laurence founded her own law firm, now operating under the name BORREL d’ARCHE.

Laurence is a non-permanent member of the Board of the French Competition Authority appointed by virtue of the Executive Order of 19 March 2019 issued by the French President.

Laurence is a reserve Navy Officer attached to the Military Cabinet of the Prime Minister.

Education history

Member of the Paris Bar Association since 2000, Laurence is a graduate of Université de Strasbourg (Postgraduate Degree (DESS) in European Business Law – Certificate in Distribution Law).

Commitments

Laurence is active within professional organisations dealing with issues relevant to competition law, and she is part of a team developing policy on the regulation of competition. She is a member of the Board of the Competition Lawyers Association (APDC) and of the French Association for the Study of Competition Law (AFEC).

Laurence is a Lecturer at Université Paris II Panthéon Assas, at Université Paris 1- Panthéon Sorbonne and at Université de Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines.

Laurence also provides legal assistance at Droits d’Urgence, a nonprofit organisation.

In addition to her nonprofit activities, Laurence is currently an advisor at the 73rd National Session on “Defence Policy” held by Institut des Hautes Etudes de Défense Nationale – acting as Committee Chair.
